Dr. Pourat is the Vice Chair of Cost for CHBRP. She is a professor of health policy and management in the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA and professor at UCLA School of Dentistry. Dr. Pourat is also the Associate Center Director and Director of the Health Economics and Evaluation Research Program at UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.

Dr. Pourat studies disparities in access to and quality of care including the role of health insurance and social determinants on health. She focuses on how health care delivery system can meet the needs of the population it is to serve, particularly in the safety net. She has conducted multiple evaluations of demonstrations and programs at the federal, state, and local levels that serve low-income and uninsured patients as well as those with complex and high level of need who generate high costs.

Dr. Pourat received both her Master’s degree in Science and her PhD in Health Services from UCLA.
