Ana Herrera, PhD, MPH
Ana Herrera, PhD, MPH, is a UCSF T32 PRISE Postdoctoral Scholar and mixed-methods health disparities researcher. She brings more than 10 years of experience advancing equity-centered public health research and practice through collaborations with government agencies, philanthropic institutions, and nonprofit organizations. Her work has addressed a broad range of public health issues, including chronic disease prevention and management, violence prevention, health and wellness promotion, economic security, and cannabis policy. In these roles, she led mixed-methods studies, built research and evaluation capacity, and translated findings into actionable insights to inform policy, practice, and systems change.
Her current research examines how policy design, enforcement practices, and community context shape health outcomes, and how equitable enforcement strategies can reduce disparities and improve population health. Dr. Herrera earned an MPH from the University of Texas School of Public Health and a PhD in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Herrera is also an alumna of the CDC Public Health Scholars Program and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Research Scholars Program.
